Asian and African niche in Guangdong

There are always many new stories and many good experiences in the seed industry in Asia and Africa. What I'm going to talk about today happened in Guangzhou. Guangzhou holds a large-scale seed trade fair every year, attracting celebrities such as seed production companies, seed distributors, and seed fairs from all over the country, bringing together a variety of excellent vegetable varieties. For the vegetable seed industry, Guangzhou Seed Fair has a pivotal position in the country. In June 2014, I went to Guangzhou and traveled back and forth between major vegetable seed markets and planting bases in Guangzhou to learn about the vegetable planting market in Guangzhou. During the investigation, I met Ms. Wen from Yimin Seed Industry and found someone willing to try planting seeds from Asia and Africa. Farmer. The trip to Guangzhou not only gained friendship and mastered the Guangzhou vegetable seed market, but also the spirit and culture of the Asian and African seed industries were recognized and endorsed by everyone.
A chance encounter with Yimin Wen
Asian-African spiritual recognition
It was June when I first arrived in Guangzhou, and it was a hot summer day. In order to grasp the information of the seed market in Guangzhou as soon as possible, I did not care about the hot climate in the south and ran back and forth in various markets in Guangzhou. During the visit, I ran into Miss Wen from Yimin Seed Industry. Because she had just come out of a planting base, her body was covered with soil, and her shirt was almost completely wet with sweat, making her look very embarrassed, so the first impression left by Ms. Wen might be dedicated, simple and close to the people. After a brief exchange with Ms. Wen, I proposed to go to the fields and vegetable wholesale markets to learn about the local vegetable planting structure and the popular vegetable varieties in the market. Before the words were over, she got her response. The two hit it off and went on the go, and immediately drove to the local vegetable wholesale and sales market. It is precisely because of this action that Miss Wen shines. She said that she was very inspired and must have this kind of enthusiasm to truly understand a market.
During the field investigation, we got to know some local farmers and communicated with them seriously and patiently. Although I don’t understand Cantonese very well, I promoted the spirit of shameless questioning, and sincerely and meticulously asked them and consulted. . Through the exchanges, we have benefited a lot. We have not only gained a deeper understanding of Guangdong's planting structure, planting varieties, and planting patterns, but also found a group of technologically conscious farmers who are willing to try our varieties. During the exchange, I conveyed the spirit of the Asian-African seed industry to them, that is, before promoting a variety in a certain place, I will definitely conduct trial planting and demonstration in the local area to understand the adaptability of the variety in the local area, so as to minimize the production risk. . The Asian-African spirit has been unanimously approved by the farmers and Miss Wen. Through a day's rush and hard work, Ms. Wen has a better understanding of me and our company.
Field trials in Guangzhou
Talk and share with farmers
In the following time, I went to the countryside and entered the vegetable market every day, insisting on doing the most basic market research work, and went to almost all the main vegetable growing areas in Guangdong. It is the unremitting investigations and investigations that have allowed me to have a more systematic and comprehensive understanding of the Guangdong market. In addition, in the process of grassroots research, I also found some good trial planting partners. These growers are willing to try planting after understanding our varieties and corporate culture. We tried to plant more than 50 varieties in Baiyun District, Guangzhou. The old farmer said that there were too many varieties and too much trouble during the trial. In order to dispel his worries and show our sincerity, I lifted up my trouser legs and joined them. Point seeds and transplant them with them. The farmer asked me why I worked hard. I said, “The selection and breeding of a new variety requires a lot of effort. Only when we personally participate in the various processes can we truly understand the adaptability of the variety in the local area and understand the characteristics of the variety. Provide high-quality and high-yielding varieties." A short sentence made farmers feel deeply.
Every time I go to the Guangdong market, it takes 2 to 3 hours to see the growth of the trial variety and the market situation of the variety. Ms. Wen joked that I am a "mud leg salesman", because I have found my feet in mud many times after meeting me. It is indeed a veritable "mud leg". Ms. Wen is also very interested in the trial planting situation. As long as she is free, she drives the car around the field and takes a look. Nearby farmers are often attracted. Every time I see someone wearing a white Asian-African shirt and a straw hat, I say, "Oh, you are here again."
Detailed record of trial performance
Double harvest of market friendship
January 20, 2015, this day is a special day. A few days later, it will be a small year in the lunar calendar. The weather in Guangzhou has a relatively large temperature difference and the sun is still strong, and the varieties we tried to plant are finally about to start harvesting. At this time, it was the Spring Festival. Others traveled from the coast to the inland during the Spring Festival. I started my own harvest journey from Wuhan to Guangdong. For each of the more than 50 varieties we tried to plant, we carefully observed and recorded a series of commercial traits such as flower shape, color, yield, maturity, disease resistance, etc., as well as the presence or absence of side branches. For 3 days, we are busy from 5:00 to 18:00-19:00 every day, and we are often covered in gray at the end of the day. Farmer Lao Liang said that several of the 50 varieties he tried to grow in his field performed very well, which made Miss Wen's eyes shine brightly. We also invite local seed distributors and major planters to observe, visit and guide. In order to meet the demand for broccoli in the Guangdong market, we require that the selected broccoli varieties should have the characteristics of high curd, firmness, high yield, good commercial properties and long shelf life.
While observing the results of the trial planting, Ms. Wen was very busy, but she still used her headlights to observe the growth of the varieties. It rained uninterruptedly. I was very touched by her unrelenting, dedicated, and dedicated spirit. Although this process is very hard, we have built a deeper trust and more understanding. Afro-Asian Seed Industry and Yimin Seed Industry have also established a deep relationship and become friends, which will help us to cooperate and develop in the future. Laid a good foundation.
